Just bought this 2001 Wrangler 4.0 5 Speed 3.73 gears. Want to run 31x10.5x15 tires want to get rid of the 33x12.5x15 currently worn and need replaced. Been searching last few days on which tires to go with. I know it has been beat to death but which brand is everyone having great luck and mileage with? This will be most of all daily driver seldom sunday off road. Also have a hard top for it and debating on investing in full hard doors. Opinions?
Anyone have a good passenger upper door for sale?
What would you do with this one if it was yours?
I run the falkens also, no issues yet and good wear. But I'll be switching to more aggressive tires next so I can play in the rocks easier. 31's may look a little small on there if you are already running 33's
I have 3.73, 5 speed manual and 31" Goodyear Duratracs. 200-250 mile trips up north this summer I was averaging 17-18.2 mpg. Great tires though, they do really well in sandy forest areas.
Hard doors are excellent! They seem more "breathable" in the sense that the large window provides good ventilation
I have to make a 300 mile trip for work every now and again and would like to take this. How would the 3.73 gears(and transmission) like the 33" tires?
I am debating the Duratracs or the KO2's just looking or mileage and Miles. I see they also make a 32x11.5 and measures 31.5 outside.
IM New What do I do?
Just talked to a guy about re-gearing he says I need 4.88. I was under the impression 4.56 would get me by just fine if running 33" tire.
I plan to just re-gear the Dana's.
33 tires on a 4.0 5spd typical recommendation is 4.55/4.56 gears
Works well on my 98 4.0 5spd that runs 33 in summer and 31 winter tires
My wife has an 04 5spd rubi and the stock 4.11/4.10 gears work ok with her 33ish metric tires which are really somewhere between 32 and 33
The small difference does not seam worth a change 4.11 to 4.56 but best choice probably 4.56 unless you want tires bigger than 33 with all the associated costs that go with even bigger tires
