what type of tranny is it?

Should be the AX15... they didn't get the NV tranny till 2003.

its possible that it is a nv3500 but would be very rare but desirable....better first gear

The NV3500 is a Chevy tranny.... not one that was ever in Wranglers.

well then u should add a 50 and a bolt on bellhousing and youve got the same thing.......and i think some cherokees had em before wranglers

Cherokees never had an NV 3550 from the manufacturer, all manual transmission Cherokees were AX-15 from the factory.

I have a 2000 Sport and I believe it has the NV3550.. Where's Jerry on this one?

2000-2001 XJ's had the NV3550. Chrysler went with them for all 4.0L powered vehicles in 2000.

It's the NV3550 which replaced the AX-15 in 2000.

my 00 has an NV3550.. from what i have seen they switched to the nv3550 in 99..

Thats according to the B&M shifters.. I assume their info is correct, otherwise my short throw wouldnt have fit.

thanx to all....i was pretty sure....but i think somebody feels like a butt now....b/c i was right......when i bought my 01 that was one of the things they were preaching to me and being a newbie i had no clue nv ax whatever
