2003 2.4 air temp sensor problem

I'm having a problem finding the correct sensor. i just got the car. when its warm it drives and turns on fine. but when its cool it doesn't want to idle. As soon as i turn the key it just cranks. if it turns on it dies unless I step on the gas pedal. after it warms up its fine.

it have me this problem after i got it home. when i test drove it. it was warm and turned on fine. i woke up the next morning and it didn't want to fire up. i looked under the hood and i saw that the air temp sensor wasn't connected. i tried to connected to loose connector that was just tucked behind the wire harness that runs along the firewall. it didn't match. so i went to the dealer and have them the vin # and asked for the part. they gave me the same sensor. then we went to the jeep and looked at the connector.

the parts guy look up the vin# and said i had to get a new wire hardness for that air sensor. that they don't have the original sensor that i would have to change the connector. its $80 and can't return after i buy it.

has any one changed their air temp sensor?
