2003 chevy axel swaps

I have a 98 sahara and its got the stock Dana 35 and 30s on it with I think a factory limited slip on the rear. I also have a possible 2003 chevy suburban as a donor for some parts. Is it possible and/or practical to use the axels from the chevy on my jeep? I know the chevy has lockers on both the front and rear and the axels are probably stronger which would be great for wheeling. So if it is possible how hard would it be to use the chevy axels?

Well the chevy axles would need to be shortened. They are too wide for your jeep. You will need new wheels as yours won't bolt up on the chevy stuff.

But the big problem is that you can't use the front axle from the suburban. It's not a solid axle system like your jeep is. I'm not saying you couldn't make it work, but you're talking about a major ordeal and a crapton of $$ to make it work, and to be honest you could probly find a set of used Dana 44's for what it would cost to put the chevy stuff under there.

Thank you! I figured it would be hard but I just wanted to make sure as it would put stronger axels on my jeep. Thank you again for a quick reply

Is there any problem with using wider axles aside from tire coverage issues

Wheelbase gets bigger. Won't be able to turn around in as small a space as the jeep can when on it's factory width axles.

The larger axles would most likely have larger breaks, and the jeeps breaking system...ie...booster, master cylinder...would need to be upgraded.

And the pinion on larger axles would most likely be longer, resulting in shorter driveshaft(s).
