2003 TJ with 4.0 & AUTO trans

I have searched everywhere, cannot find info on whether or not there is a reverse or backup light switch for this model which is on the outside of the transmission. I took it to the local dealer and he said it was inside the transmission pan and that they would have to drop the tranny and bust into it to fix this switch!???
Who knows this answer? Remember, it is AUTO trans-I can find references to the MANUAL trans part, but none for AUTOMATIC trans-nothing on dealer's exploded view.
No reverse lights and can find no other ideas on where to look. Any ideas or superhuman knowledge out there?

I think it's tied into the neutral safety switch. Look for a switch where the shifter is.

I just looked in my FSM and the Reverse switch is located in the Transmission Range Sensor switch assembly.

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is mounted
to the top of the valve body inside the transmission
and can only be serviced by removing the valve body
assembly. The electrical connector extends through
the transmission case"
When you have a choice, buy American.

2003 auto trans TJ reverse light switch

So I guess the local crappy dealer was right in telling me that I have to drop the tranny to check out the reverse/backup light switch????
Dang it.
Maybe I should take off the center console parts and check that area out first. The reverse lights I guess stopped working just after I routed some subwoofer wires thru there-maybe I jacked something up. The previous owner apparently just took the Jeep in water before the sale as he had to by pass the foglight switch, the reverse light switch is gone out?, and also the blower only works on high now.
I will stay away from h2o from here on out.
Also, how do I get an idea of how much lift this TJ has?? Running 33x12.5 Baja claw tires with a lot of room left. Guess I'll post a pic as soon as I can figure out how. New to Jeeps, but luvin every minute of it.:confus ed:

If you're running 33's there's a good chance you have at least a 4" lift.
