I recently bought a 2005 Wrangler SE. The jeep did not have fog lights, so I purchased an OEM Mopar fog light kit. I mounted the lights, wired the engine compartment but got into alittle trouble when I took apart the steering collumn. First the 20 pin connector on the left side of the collumn, was previously broken and glued together. Once i unplugged the connector, it crumbled in my hand. So my first question is, can I buy a new conector from Jeep, and just put the old wires into it. Next, I followed the wiring instructions, but there is a small problem. The color codes on my jeep's wires does not match the color codes on the instructions. Here is what the instructions said:
On the 20 pin connector, replace the PK.LG wire in slot 13 with the red wire on the fog light wires, and replace the WT/OR wire in slot 13, with the WT/OR wire fromt he fog lights. Then splice into the RD/OR wire on pin 17 with the OR wire from the fog lights. In reality, my wire on pin 13 is RED with 2 green stripes, and pin 14 has a white wire with yellow stripe.
So my question is do I follow the instructions using the pin numbers as reference, or does the color of the wires supercede that? Unfortunately the instructions dont say what each wire is connected to. I hope this is not too confusing. Thank you
