2006 TJ Engine Noise

My kid has a 2006 TJ 6 cyl 6 speed the theres a noise coming from where the distrubor should be what is this and where can I get a new one

It might be the oil pump drive gear. They had some problems with late '05's and early '06's. If you pull out the part that is where the distributor would go, take a look at the gear for excessive wear/chunks missing. From what I hear Jeep has been good about fixing this at the dealer.

If it's not that, I'm not going to be much help, but others will :-)

If the check gauges light comes on, quickly check your oil pressure and shut it down if you don't have pressure, or you will seize the engine. Several cases of oil pump drives failing and taking out the engine.
