3.55 gears for 33s

I have a 1997 jeep wrangler sport manual. I have 3.55 gears and was wanting to know if this will work for 33s. I am getting a 2 inch bds lift and 1.25 jks bl for Christmas. Also are Duratracs good tires for everyday use and mud riding.

3.55 would be okay, but you would much happier with 4.56 for your 33s. The duratracs are a great street tire for every day use and perform pretty well in the mud.

Thanks. I don't want to regear because I have a dana 35. I want to wait till I have enough money or it blows up to get a ford 8.8 rear.

Your Dana 35 is not just going to blow up. Don't read to much into that where you don't want to have fun with your rig. Your 3.55's will get the job done till you can upgrade.

I understand that, I wouldn't waste a dime on a D35. If you take it easy and keep the tires no bigger than 33s it will hold up. 3.55 gears won't be too bad though for the time being, until you can get a new axle and then regear.

Could I put 35s on with the setup that I have and still be able to deal with the loss of power

35s are too much for the D35 to handle. I have 33s and 3.73 gearing and it is really annoying. I don't think you would enjoy that combination, its much more cost effective to stick with 33s. When you have 35s then you need to start thinking about brakes, steering upgrades, axle shafts, etc. You would need to add at least another inch or two to your lift to clear them anyways.

Ok. If I had a ford 8.8, regeared and metalcloak arched fenders do you think it would be possible then.

Yes, you can run 35s with the 8.8.The fenders appear to give a lot more room, but I'm not familiar with them. You will definitely need get a taller suspension lift, the one you have planned out is about the minimum you would want with 33s depending on what kind of wheeling you do.
