30rh Pass through connector

Hey everyone. Having a little issue. Have a '97 2.5 with an automatic.

I've had a decent transmission leak for a while. I took it to a repair shop, and they said the torque convertor solenoid pass through connector is cracked. They can't find the part because it is discontinued. They epoxied it and it worked for a while, then epoxied it again, and worked for a while. This is just a weekend cruiser for us, and hasn't gotten hardly any miles. Spends most of the time parked in the garage. It appears to be getting a lot worse. I'm able to do some light repair work myself, but can't seem to find this cheap part anywhere. I've searched the internet quite thoroughly, and have ordered it from 3 different shops, only to be called and emailed that the part is discontinued and unavailable. Every other site pretty much confirms this. I believe the part # is 56038235. No salvage yards around here have TJ's.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately they do not have the part. Just got the email.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Don't limit your self to just TJ's. a Cherokee or a Dakota might have the same engine/transmission combo.

Some info here

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/2-...ector-1458063/

I would find one on a Chrysler tranny in the u pull it yard and just pull it off and pay their 6 dollar pig tail price and be done with it

It would not even have to be on a jeep

Thanks for the replies. However, from what I can tell, it changed to a 2 wire plug in '97. I don't believe anything but the TJ had the 30rh after 97. I think the old designation a904 used a connector with 1 wire.

Anyone know if I'm correct?

OK but lots of torque-flight tranny used the same 2 wire solenoid with the same connector that plugs into your pass thru connection

Here is an Ebay listing for the solenoid with 3 pages of applications

A904 TF6 904 30RH 31RH 32RH 2 Wire Lock Up Solenoid TCC Mopar New Lockup | eBay

Are you sure none of the other tranny with same solenoid with same connector have the thru the case connector you are looking for. I would take a trip to junkyard and look for myself to see if some of these applications have the same connector

Digger, not sure how to check it without removing both and checking to see if the threads are the same.

Jerry, appreciate the link. Of the 3 that show it in stock, I've tried ordering from 2 of them, and later get a call or email saying it is discontinued. I will try the third, I never found that one in my searches. I appreciate it.

Fingers crossed, this really sucks. It's a $20 part they quit making. Wonder how many 30rh's were sold from 97-02?

If it looks the same externally buy it ( or try a thread gauge on it) pay the $6 take it home and see if it is the same and will work or you can just whine that it won't work without trying and complain that nothing will work.

But if trying is too hard I guess just feel sorry for yourself and see how that works out.

Digger, thanks for you advice in the previous posts, I have been checking about other possibilities. Not a lot of self service yards around here, but there is a very good one I am affiliated with. I believe your comment about other types may work.

And especially for the last post. It was such a very useful amount of information.
