31s, 2.5L, and 4.10....

I reacently got my first jeep. A '97 complete stock with the 2.5L. I have been thinking about putting 31x10.50s on it and was wondering if it would be as bad as everyone says. I know that jp mag says that it will fall on its face, but I'm not looking for a racer. I'm getting 20.1 mpg now and was looking at 4wds chart and that says that with the 31s I will get less power, but a little more mpgs.. I realy don't think that I will see any difference with the way that I drive.

I get to 5th just about asap...maybe a little longer. I love to downshift in trafic, and I go by the old saying.... Put it in LOW and let her GO, so I do use 4low.

Also, the shocks are shot, and I was looking at the pro-comp 1.5" lift with the shock combo...how are they?

my son drives a 1999 TJ SE 4 cylinder stock 2.5L Automatic.

the manual transmission will probably be a little better mpg

has 31 x 10.50 Goodyears and haven;t notice much difference on mpg or power
mostly due to local driving

the tires will probably be fine, but you shouldn't be driving around in 4low (or 4high) unless it's snowing or really wet, except if you have a full time 4wd transfer case swapped in there...
