4 banger loses power going up hill

Now, I've only had my 97 TJ for about 2 months now, and I'm not sure if this is normal for the 2.4 4 cylinder or if there is anything I can do to fix. Anyways, it is a 5 speed, and when going up hills, not even really steep ones, I tend to find myself having to shift down a lot. It has no lift kit, but does have the 31x10.5 tires. Is the drop in power going up hill normal for this, or is there anything I can do?

Yep, even the I6 stock setup doesn't do well on highway hills. It's a low end torque motor perfect for offroad. The tradeoff is highway performance.

Like Vaultzz and thecheat said, downshifting at hills is the name of the game on the highway. Even the 6 banger.

I've towed two ATVs on a good sized trailer.... My four banger did find. Hills would be a problem with two quads,,, but one would be fine. The hills I drive Are the blue ridge parkway hills. :)
