4" shock on 2.5 lift?

Someone is selling some shocks they had on their wrangler for little less than 2 wks, the lift company sent them the wrong shocks (4" shocks with a 2.5" lift) so they installed them bc it was their dd .. The new shocks (2.5" versions) came in in about week and 1/2 and he reinstalled them, and is now selling the shocks for a really good deal , 75 for the set, being as he doesn't need them and they are laying around. If these shocks were installed , being as they were mor compressed all the time, would this hurt them in any way? They are the RC 2.2 series, and from RC they're 200 + 15 shipping
