4 Wheel lever rattling

So i have been getting this rattle on from under the Jeep. when i hold on the 4wd lever it goes away. So i crawled underneath and followed the linkage looking for the problem. Im going to say this in my terms and i hope you under stand. There is a plate that holds a plastic looking nipple part from the linkage. Looks like all it is there for is to hold the linkage in place. Im not sure if it was supposed to have a bushing or not but it is definetly rattling around. Any ideas or suggestions on fixing it? I was thinking some kind of rubber hose around the nipple part. Let me know!!

Thanks!!!!!

There is a TSB covering this. It is not covered under warranty or recall. You can pick up the part for about 20 bucks from the dealer, and new and improved thingy.

My firewall prvents me from pulling up this site, but I believe this details everything about it.

Is you Jeep still under the original Bumper-to-bumper warranty?

My 99 Sahara was doing the same thing back in 2001. The dealer fixed it according to the TSB that Compshooter was talking about and it was covered under warranty. No noises from there since.

I've got the exact same problem with mine right now. I took it to the dealership to get the tranny looked at and asked them to look into the knocking too, anyway, they said what Compshooter said, but they were gonna charge me $120 for the job!!! Thanx for startin this thread and thanx ALOT to Compshooter for the info and link!
