4lo question..lunging?

Is it normal for my jeep to really lunge when putting it into drive while in 4lo? mine seems like it wants to do a wheely..

i have a 5spd but this sounds normal, try and do wheelys

Yep, normal. 4Lo is strictly for very low-speed stuff due to the very low ratio gearing which definitely multiplies the torque getting to the rear wheels. Think of the added power by starting in 1st gear vs. 4th gear muliplied nearly 3X by shifting into 4Lo. Especially with your automatic which puts out a lot more torque (2-3X) when first starting out than a manual transmission does.

thanks jerry its been bugging me since i bought the jeep (my first 4x4 vehicle) and just wanted to make sure i wasnt hurting anything...well back into the trails a worry free man i go
