4WD issue! HELP!

I took my Jeep out the other day in the mud, nothing crazy or hard. I had it in 4WD and when I got off the dirt road I put it back into 2WD. The light on the dash was on so I'm assuming it was working fine when I put it back to 2WD. Today I went back out and I went to put it into 4WD and the sensor on the dash didn't light up, besides that I don't really know how to tell if it's in it or not. It doesn't make any weird noises when I try and change it. This is my first jeep and I just bought it about 2 months ago so I'm no mechanic on it. I did pop the hood to see if I saw any cables broken or anything because I don't know what I'm looking for. I saw a few cables in the same area that were not connected to anything, I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I took pics of them because I don't know what they are..

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

I've got some of those "whats this for" wires too. The 4wd is not electrical and should just be a loose wire that is not letting the light come on. Test the 4wd to see if it is in face working properly.

Hope someone else with more experiance will chime in.

try putting it in 4lo. youll definatly be able to tell if it is on or not. it might be the light burnt out if you had it on for a while the first time.

The plugs appear to be for the underhood light and the A/C system. I take it you don't have A/C?

Oh that makes sense. No I don't have A/C. It was just weird to see wires connected to nothing.

Check the linkage under the jeep. Have someone move the 4wd shifter. there is a adjustable linkage that could have move or came loose. When the other person moves the shifter u will be able to see the linkage arm that goes too the transfer I had to adj mine to get it low gear.
