4wd light, front and rear lock light inop

I am trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting my problem on my 2004 Rubicon.
I can not lock either axle. ( 4L engaged )
I can not hear the air pump run. ( 4L engaged )
I do not get the 4wd, front lock or rear lock lights to light up, even when first turning the ignition on. I don't know if I am supposed to either.
I found the 4wd light switch connector, disconnected. I plugged in the connection, but still no light. At this point I started looking at the wire print.
I jumped the harness at the transfer case (4L engaged) no 4wd light.
I have 12v at the front and rear lock relays.
The axle lock switch does not light up.
Where to go next?
I thought that someone out there would be more familiar with this than me.
I would hate to go deeper than I have to.

The Jeep history: I am the third owner at 34,000 mi. The previous owner claimed everything works. He did have a transmission service done just prior to my purchase. I found the skidplate bolts backed out or just finger tight. and the trans pan very clean. That is why I asked if any transmission work was done. I was told it was in for the 30k service. But he also told me that some light metal was found in the pan. He declined further work because he had no issue with shifting or performance.

Check all of your fuses first.

Then if that's good put it in 4 Lo and pull the power connector to one of the pumps and use a test meter to see if your getting power.

All the fuses are good. I checked them all with a meter to be sure. Last night I pulled the relays again and jumpered the air pump terminals and found both air pumps to work.

After many problems on trails with losing my lockers in the middle of the trail...lights blinking, not staying on, no air pump, then no lights at all...and next trip it would work fine...I spent a fortune having the OEM pumps taken out, all wiring and airlines re-routed and put in on-board air system. So it runs the pumps AND I have quick disconnect on both ends of my 03 rubicon for airing up tires. Guess what...first trail we went on-in the middle of the trail the lockers quit. No lights, nothing. Back to the shop...lots of testing...and guess what...it was the SWITCH that went bad. Yup...about a $50 part....so from the sounds of what you have going on, and the year...(and I had only 50k for miles) I would pop the front of the panel and get the switch replaced and see what happens!

I will take a look at the switch. After reading a little about on how the system works, I am thinking about having a dedicated switch for the front and one for the rear. I would still like to get it working before I start modding it.

4WD light now works

My son and I pulled the axle lock switch out and probed the wires to see what we were getting. We had one ground, three power with the ignition switch on, one power with the light switch on and two unknown. I guess they are the signal wires to the front and rear air pumps. We had disconnected the battery for the first time since we owned the jeep. When we connected the battery and put the switch back in, the 4WD light will illuminate in 4H and 4L and the front and rear axles will now lock in 4L and their lights also work on the dash panel.

So what happened? Did disconnecting the battery fix it or was it playing with the switch? I can see that the switch is pretty fragile and that is where I think the problem was.

Thanks for the tip on looking at the switch.
