Question 4WD Light on Dash doesn't work?

Has anyone ever had the 4wd light go out, or not work on their TJ? The 4wd works, but the light never comes on. The rest of the dash lights work fine. Just wondering if it's common or if there's anything I can do for it?

It all evens out

Mine never goes out. The switch is on the transfer case. Good luck. I changed mine, still won't go out. Still, that doesn't bother me as much as that damn upshift light

I plan on taking the upshift light bulb out this spring!! I like the "get a rope" idea... maybe I will take pictures of roping up my upshift light

Is there any other way to disable the stupid upshift light aside from removing the bulb?

Drives me nuts too...I wouldn't mind following it, but I decided to do it one day just to see the difference it made.

Uh yeah... it actually wanted me in 5th gear by 30mph and my engine was lugging yet it was telling me to upshift! Somebody seriously must have been hungover the day they decided to program that light.

To the OP... my "4wd" light doesn't come on. When I'm in 4wd, high or low, the only light that kicks on is the "Part Time" light in orange on the top right portion of my instrument panel.

My 4wd light just didn't come on one time, so I thought maybe the bulb burned out. I removed the stupid upshift light and replaced it with the 4wd light but that didn't work. I don't really need the light anyways I figured, I can tell when it's in 4wd, but I am glad I removed that upshift bulb...

When I put the fuse in on my 05 TJ to bypass the clutch saftey switch my 4WD light came on and now it never goes off.

The switch for the 4x4 light is on the very top of the transfer case, on the passenger side. Look to see if the connector for the cable is connected, it may have been removed for some reason & just not plugged back in.

Nope. The good news is that it only takes a phillips head screwdriver & just a few minutes to get the instrument cluster out so you can get to that bulb & remove it. Mine was out the first weekend after buying my new TJ.
