4wd lights on dash not working

Just wondering if anyone knew an easy fix to my 4 high and 4 Low lights not working on the instrument cluster. Fuse? Indicator switch on the handle? This is on a 97 TJ.

Thanks cherokee, now I don't feel as bad. Maybe someone will chime in and solve both of our problems.

Your TJ only has one 4x4 light that is supposed to work and it's controlled by a switch located on top of the transfer case. The other 4x4 light is a full-time 4x4 indicator light which is only used by Cherokees.

Mine has (2) - (1) Part Time, it works and (1) Low Range, does not work. I don't let it bother me as I can tell when I'm in Low Range.

No, as said above, the second indicator is a Full-Time 4x4 indicator there only for Cherokees that used the same instrument cluster, it is not a 4Lo indicator. None of our TJs have a "Low Range" indicator. The same 4x4 indicator stays lit up whether you're in 4Hi or 4Lo.

As stated above, WE DO HAVE a low range indicator light. Its the third light you failed to mention. Now if it is supposed to work or not is up for debate as mine does not.
Actual arrangement on the dash is upper right corner:
Full Time - Part Time - 4WD Low

All in all it seamed to be a problem in the 97 because mine don't work either so I done a search back some time ago and came up to a lot of them that do not work and 99% were on the 97s.

Mine do not work on my 98. I thought it was just the bulbs... but I haven't checked it yet. And now hearing that a lot of them don't work makes me think it's something worse like the switch.

yeah I thought mine may be the bulb also but I done this mod last week to mine http://www.dailydriventj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=333 (Led dash lights and chrome bezel cover) and swaped out the bulb that was in the seat belt light that I know was good and still no light up wheels and also on mine the only bulb that was in it was for the one on the right in the circle.so on the TJ only one set of wheels light up in 4LO or 4HI.

Thanks Jerry. I will locate the switch and try some dielectric grease and see if that makes any difference. It's really not a big deal, just annoys me.

Interesting that Jeep added a 4Lo indicator. It's not in earlier TJs, at least there's not one in mine.
