4x4 dash lights

I just bought a 2000 jeep wrangler. I can tell it goes in to 4 wheel drive. My question is are'nt there supposed to be a light or lights come on the dash when 4 wheel drive is engaged. It looks like there are lights in the dash for this, but they dont come on. Any advice will be greatly apprieciated. All the other lights seem to work fine.

Yep, there's an indicator in the instrument cluster. My bet is you have a bulb burned out.
I copied this from the web: (TJ dashes are easy to work on!)
Remove the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel. You will have to pull the stem out of the headlight switch. Reach up under the dash and feel around for a button on top of the headlight switch. Push and hold it and pull the knob out. The shaft/stem should release. You are now just going to unscrew the two mounting screws in the front.

Remove the top panel cover (the thing that the defroster vents are in the middle of) ..pry it gently.

Two screws hold the bottom of the instrument cluster bezel ...three on top

Four screws hold the instrument cluster. Pull the instrument cluster rearward (toward you) to disengage the self docking instrument panel wire harness connectors (two of them). Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel.
