5 speed to 6 speed ??

I have a 03 rubicon and it has a really bad second gear shift I am not massively familiar with the inner workings of a tranny however I think the syncro's are messed up. If I am going to do a tranny swap does anyone know if I can swap it out direct for 6 speed ? It is a 5 speed now I would like a 6 speed it it is direct replacement but not if it is going to be a bunch of trouble anyone have any insight on the matter ? Thank u :^)

One thing that has been used with success by some here is to drain the transmission and flush it with kerosene or something like that and refilling it after it drains real well with something like the Redline MT-90 transmission oil. Some had said that has made their transmission problems like you are having go away. I am sure someone that has done will chime in or use the search to find threads on transmissions, it is well outlined.

Thank u I will do a search on that I am skeptical that a simple flush will fix it but like I said I do not have enough tranny experience to write it off if anyone still knows about the possibility of a conversion I would still like to k ow if it is easy but if my tranny can be saved that would be best :^)

X2 on trying the Redline MT-90. Actually, Redline's MTL which is an 80W-90 viscosity vs. the MT-90's 75W-90 viscosity is the more appropriate choice for the NV3550 according to Redline. Besides, the 6-speed has its own problems, I wouldn't swap to it.

I would not spend the cash unless you just have piles of it lying around. The lower ratios are nice though.
