8.8 up and rolling!

Got the ford 8.8 hooked up chocked up torqued in and ready to go! I am now driving around with no front shaft (got to stick 4.88's in the D30 first).

I havent got the pinion angle perfect just yet....got a leeettle beet of vibe around 20 mph when in the gas. Kinda feels like when you hit the edge of the interstate til I pass through that speed. I have adjustable lower control arms that in their shortest adjustment are still longer than the stock ones. I have upper adjustables coming. I started with about 3 degrees on the pinion and the vibe was worse and at a higher speed. Turned it back to 1.5 degrees and it got worse. Went the other way (I am now at 6 degrees, and too tired to screw with it anymore) but it seems like MORE angle toward the TC is better. I would love to hear others tricks for getting the pinion angle perfect.... it is rough cranking on these adjustable arms.

4.88 gears 2.5" spacer lift 1" body lift 4.0 I6 5 speed 33" at's.

Love the 4 wheel disc brakes - - - AWESOME!

I can take off in 2nd gear with no use of the gas pedal. I have spring in my step! I accelerate like a rocketship....Got a case of the teenage speed demon coming back into this old guy! My Jeep has a 5th gear now! It will actually hold and accelerate in 5th AMAZING!

The downside: You aint getting this baby up on the highway that's for sure....takes about 2700 rpm to give me 60 in 5th gear (GPS...Speedo is waaaayyy off til my new gear shows up).

I got to thank up2nogood for selling me the goods. Jerry Bransford, James Adams from adams driveshaft for the SYE and a 1st class driveshaft ($4 bills) and about another dozen WF members that walked me through this install.

Beep Beep I am in the JEEP again!

Not too sure you want to adjust the pinion angle with lowers. Your lowers tell the rear where to be front to back. The uppers tell it the angle to be at. At least thats the way it works on drag cars. You are actually moving the pinion forward and aft and could be causing stress on the shaft joints. I have always been told the pinion should be pointing toward the aft joint on the front of the shaft, never above it. Somebody will chime in and give you some better advice soon.

Edit: I could be thinking about the angle on the front shaft as far as where it points though.

Well, heck, I guess I was right, but that is for a cv shaft. What I found out was that for non-cv you want the, never mind, I didn't read the whole thing, but maybe this will help.

pinion angle should be between 0 to a degree or so less the the drive shaft with SYE withoutSYE the pinion should be the same as the output shaft on the TC .
