82 Cherokee axles in a TJ?

Hey guys,
one of my classmates came up to me and we started talking about jeeps, he said he has a 1982 Jeep Cherokee that he doesn't need anymore and said someone told him it had dana 60's and the other said dana 44's... I was wondering which would it be?

Also, could anyone get the specs of the axles? Like length width and all.

Thanks a lot!

Being a Full Size Cherokee they'd be Dana44's. Only Jeeps from long ago that had a D60 rear would be the J2000 trucks, and none had D60 fronts.

Depending on the track width, they'd be half decent axles, although my preference would would still go towards a Ford D44 for the high pinion front.

its got D44s, ~65" WMS IIRC. stock TJ is ~60".

they'll work with major modifications - welding/fabrication for TJ brackets, steering, etc. bolt pattern is also different (6 x 5.5)...so you'll need new wheels, or custom axle shafts.
