97 Sport pass. air bag cover

I need to get a new one. The previous owner doused it with shiner and cleaner and now it is beyond sticky and the color will come off with the scratch of a fingernail. It's just the pass. side air bag cover, that's it. I can't find these anywhere and I don't want to go to the dealer. Can anyone help me out in locating one? Thanks.

try car-part.com.... do a seach for your area and airbags, one of them might have a cover for you.. if not go national search.

The cover is an integrated part of the air bag - unless you go with the "no air bag cover" in which case you lose your air bag.

It's gonna be expensive to replace - best bet would be to find someone selling their air-bags.

Ah that sucks! I'm not about to get a new airbag. Any ideas on how to get the paint/plastic to firm back up?

You should be able to find just the cover. I work at TRW in Cookeville, TN where we make the passenger air bag for the TJ. We only ship out the air bag itself without the door on it. You should be able to find just the door somewhere.

I was able to find just the cover but it's a whopping $75 for that stupid piece! I am going to wait until it is in really bad shape before I replace it. Stupid oem parts.

It's a service part. That's why it's so expensive. Because the supplier of the part knows that nobody else can produce it. Therefore, they can charge whatever they want for it. I know this won't be encouraging to you but usually those covers don't cost more than about $5 a piece to produce. I really wish I could help you out, but like I said we don't deal with the covers for the TJ here, just the air bag itself. Good luck in finding one. Have you tried eBay? I've seen the driver covers on there before.

Actually the covers on ebay cost more than parts that I can find from individual internet sites. I'm not ready to pay $75 for it.
