97TJ 4 wheel light not working

New to the site. I have a 97 TJ 4 cyl. I dropped the skid plate under the trans. to fix the muffler.I had the trans. supported, but the support slipped and the trans dropped a couple of inches. Now the 4 wheel indicator light doesn't work, and it doesn't feal like the 4 wheel drive is working properly. Any ideas?

IMO the TC shifting linkage could be bent. Adjust it. Here I wrote how it works: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/prob...kit-26419.html

I gave the linkage a quick look. It looked OK. I'll try what you suggested, and see if that fixes it. Thanks

go out on to your street and put it in 4HI and start going and then make a u-turn then if it feels jumpy jerky u r in 4hi. If not it is not grabbing.

I have a lift in my barn. I put the jeep on the lift, engaged the 4 wheel drive. All wheels turned. But no indicator light.

tried your suggestion, didn't seem to make any difference. Indicator light still not working.Do you know if on this model TJ the light works of a vacuum switch. I looked but couldn't find any vacuum lines on the transfer case or axle. Thanks for the suggestion.

When the Transmission/Transfer Case dropped the plug for the 4x4 switch on the transfer case may have been pulled out or the wiring damaged look around the transfer case you should see it ,I don't remember it's exact location but there should only be 1 switch on the transfer case.
