98 2.4L heads on early 90s 2.4L block

I have a 98 tj with a 2.4L motor which I messed up. But I can buy a yj 2.4L motor cheap. The yj is carb and my tj is tbi. Can I take the heads and tb and such off of my tj and put on the yj block? Will it bolt together? I got laid off the day the jeep broke so money is tight and my jeep is my only vehicle. I need help bad.

Yeah they are the same engine but make sure when you re referencing parts for them. It's a 2.5L. The 2.4 I a totally different engine! But the only difference you will find is some emissions and computer changes. Other than that they are the same

It all depends on what sensors are effected and where they are. Really if you swapping your newer head to the older engine the only thing that you should have to worry about is oil pressure sending unit maybe coolant temp sensor. I'm not sure if you have a crankshaft position sensor or not.
