98 TJ, Climate control levers dont return

Ok so the levers themselves i can return (hot to cold, defrost to head etc...) but if i go all the way "hot" and pull the lever back to "cold" the lever goes back but the fan still kicks out hot hot air. Now i found where the lever with the cable is that controls this (under the passanger side dash) and it looks like its missing a return spring or something....So i have to move it back by hand, then the air turns cold again.

can i get a picture or something of how that mechanism is supposed to look like. Im not sure how to fix it. maybe im missing a spring or something...

There is no return spring, the wire between the control and the lever is all that controls that flapper door. My control wire came off its connection to the flapper door when the Jeep was nearly new and it did the same thing yours does before I put the wire back in place. That wire just goes back & forth as you move the lever to open/shut the flapper door, is it not staying connected to the door? I'd think that should be pretty easy to isolate what is broken or disconnected but it's been so long since I was in that part of my Jeep I can't offer any more than that. Good luck with it.
