98 Wrangler Clunking Sound

The other day my 1998 Jeep wrangler sport sounded like something fell off the bottom of the car and now makes a clunking sound when moving. I can turn the car off while I am driving and the sound persists so I am sure it is not the engine. I am 16 and would like to fix the problem myself if possible, I am pretty mechanically sound.

My Jeep has a 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires if this makes a difference, some suggested it may be a u-joint problem but I am not convinced i would like to get this forums opinion.

Check:
A shock off it's bushing?
Loose rear track bar?
Cracked/sheared transmission mount?

I took it to the shop because I couldn't figure out. The mechanic thinks it might be in the transmission, the ujoints are fairly solid. The front right shock is rubbing but I don't think it could cause the sound I am hearing. Hopefully get it diagnosed tomorrow! Thanks

Update

Ok so the problem was the rear differential. I will post some pics of how the teeth of the gears in one area were just sheared off. Apparently there must have been a stress fracture in the gears that gave way finally when I put the jeep into drive. I have bigger gears in my differential because of the size of my tires (35 Inch). In the end I had to have my whole rear end rebuilt and a new rear axle because of the damage of even driving at all while the sound was made. It has been a costly repair (close to $1500).
