'99 AC cooling but not enough?

The AC seems to be blowing cool air but its just not getting cool especially on road trips. I found someone who posted and had solved this problem on here many months ago but I can't find it now (it was a fairly simple fix).

Does anyone have similar problem (solved) or any suggestions? I'd just like to have some idea before I bring to shop so that I'm not ripped off.

Odds are that your a/c compressor has lost a bit of its refrigerant through a very small leak somewhere. When the refrigerant pressure drops, the a/c compressor cycles more often and it can no longer put out as much cold air as it is capable of.

I'd take it to an a/c shop and have them test it for a leak. The leak may be so small that they can't find it so if that's the case, I would just ask them to recharge your a/c system with more refrigerant.

And a big welcome to WF!

When you have a choice, buy American.

Thanks for the welcome- this looks like a handy place!

I will take it in for tests- hopefully its nothing too expensive. Others have suggested that it may be a blower motor resistor which they said is very inexpensive and easy to change. I'm hoping it's that!

Check the temperature by putting a grilling thermometer in the vent. ACs in vehicles usually only cool 20 degrees lower than the ambient temperature. If its 100 don't expect better than 80.

If it isn't cutting it, evap and recharge with dye.
