a/c clutch not engaging

ok, last year, the a/c clutch was not engaging everytime I turned the a/c on, but all I had to do was open up the hood, give a little tap on it and it would start spinning.
now , today, i wanted to check to see if my a/c was working and the clutch doesnt engage, I hit it nicely with a small plier but it still doesn't engage.

I have the Haynes repair manual but they dont cover anything (that was money well spent...)

anybody know what I should do ?

Look at the ac clutch - you'll see 2 wires that connect to it in a plug. Make sure that plug is properly seated.

Look at the dryer - a cylindrical metal thing - passenger side. Near, or on it should be what looks like a temperature sensor - it's a high/low pressure switch.
Squeeze the rubber connector to take it off.
Jumper the harness terminals with a paper clip.
If the clutch engages, you are low on R-134, needs a recharge. Don't leave it jumpered for long.
