Accessing heater controls

I have a 2001 TJ with a broken/stuck heater control. First the knob broke off and I found the control was "frozen" in place.
Picked up a new switch from Jeep dealer, but unsure how to get to the heater module?
My Jeep dealer wanted 3 to 4 hours labor to remove dash panel??

JP Mag had an article about a repair for this switch recently but no info for getting the module out and accessible.

Appreciate any assistance

Give me a minute and I'll find the instructions I've wrote up a time or two.

To remove the center bezel to get to the Heater control box and such...

1) First remove the defrost vent cover. To do this all you have to do is use a flathead screw driver and pry it up.

2) There are three screws holding the center bezel in... 2 on top where you removed the defrost cover and one behind the ash tray. To remove the ash tray simple open it an press down on the tab at the inner top. The ash tray will come out revealing the screw.

3) Once all 3 screws are removed, just pull the center bezel off. It is held on with push clips. Just pulls right off.

When you get the center bezel off it pretty self explanatory on how to remove the heater control box, just 4 little screws.

Good luck.

Thanks for that. I will give it a try in the morning.

Beats the Jeep dealers price!

Yep it's very simple. takes about 2min tops to get the heater control box out.

Also another tip... when you pry up the defrost vent cover....do it from the side and not the middle.

Let us know if you need anything else.
