Adding A/C to a non-A/C TJ

Its my third TJ but my first 2003 Rubi. And its my first TJ without A/C.

Some of you may think A/C in a topless vehicle is unnecessary but at 2 mph in 100* heat, it really is nice have.

is there any problem with grabbing a set of used/junked 1997-2006 TJ A/C components or is there reason why I should just go get a A/C kit?

Furthermore, if I grab the 600-900 A/C kit.

You can take your chances with an old system but you could end up spending more to replace parts that are bad. I purchased the whole system. It was about 1250.oo after I had the system charged. Took about 6-8 hours to install.

apparently not all 2003 Rubis are created equal. Mine did not have A/C or Cruise control. But the price was too good to pass up.

rjelliott: Where or what A/C system did you purchase? New factory or aftermarket?

03/04 were optional ac and 05/06 were standard ac.

Check out jeepair.com they have kits that are everything you need and they even come with new control knobs for the ac functions.

97-06 Wranglers (all configurations and sub-names) can have factory look AC installed in them in about 6 hours by one compentent installer. The complete kits (hint: nothing else needed as it is all in the 100% complete kit) are available at Bought4Less.com. All the Factory Vents work, the evaporator sets in the AC opening in the HVAC box, a new Recirculation door is added (Very important item over looked by others) Crimped hoses, all hardware from the compressor to wire ties are in the kit.
