I'm one of those who feel ABS is better on slick surfaces, hell they use ABS on commercial jets and fighter jets as well because they're all about what works best damn the cost. It'd take a well-trained professional driver to out-brake ABS, at least in my humble opinion. Anyone who has ever been in a panic stop/emergency situation has better things to do than to worry about perfect braking technique. ABS allows you to simply stand on the brakes and not worry about going into an uncontrolled skid. I had to remove my TJ's ABS because the D44 I installed had no option for it but I'd rather have it than not.
That said, it'd be a nightmare to install ABS as not only would you need the ABS computer and sensors, you'd have to install a whole new hard brake line system as well to mate up with the ABS pump system located inside the battery compartment. It's a nice thought but unless you were willing to go to a lot of work, I don't think it'd be worth it.
