Depends, my LJ was not prewired from the factory. I took mine to a dealer to install due to the wiring job required. If yours is prewired (there would be an empty plug around the master cylinder or on the wheel well driver side) then it is a breeze! Would only take 30 minutes if you don't have to mess around w/ the wiring.

My 06 Rubicon has the empty plug and I plan on purchasing the kit soon from one of the online retailers because it's $50 or so cheaper than the stealership. I'll let you know how that "30 minute" idea works out... I sure hope you're correct!!!

Yep, if it is prewired, you got it made in the shade.....all you do is install the servo (EZ) and install the switches in the steering wheel (EZ).

all this info below is pertaining to 4.0L models

the cruise control servo is the same from 97-06.. the bracket that bolts it to the driver's side fender is different from 97-02 and 03-06. the vacuum line it uses is the same for all years

jeep cherokee from 99-01 and 99-04 grand cherokees have the same servo.. except the mounting bracket is different...

if you are pre-wired all you'd need would be steering wheel buttons and the servo.

the 03-06 TJ share the same steering wheel/ cruise buttons as a 99-04 Grand Cherokee. I don't know if you can remove/add the buttons on these steering wheels easily as you can the 00-02 models. you might have to replace the entire steering wheel cover/airbag cover.

00-02's servo mounts on a bracket that hold the evaporator canister on the driver's side fender beside the master cyl.

Ok. stupid question. Since I am a new owner... I realize it is simple to hook up. But what if you dont have the switches on your steering wheel? Where/how do you hook up cruise "controls"?
