After head gasket replacement

What do i do next? I replaced a cracked head and gasket. cleaned everything i could and drained it. What is my next step? Fill it up and drive it or flush it? Whole thing is back together.

I'm a clean freak... so I'm blowing everything out a couple of times, flushing and flushing again before I put in the final fluids (sick puppy eh?)....but you don't have to...let's see if it will run first. Good luck!

Ok I filled everything up. I had some older used oil from a past oil change i put in the motor and ran it for till it came up to normal temp. I shut it down drained it again and replaced the oil and filter with new. The only prob i have is that after driving it maybe 10 min it smokes a lil after i set at a stop light or when i leave a stop sign. Will this go away I plan on changing the oil again after 250 miles but just wondering. Before the repair there was no smoke at all?

that should go away quickly, after the first couple drives. there's residue that will burn off after a job like that, if not maybe valve cover gaskets leaking oil onto the exhaust.

Run it for at least a hour driving normal. Then come back and check each spark plug. The hour is long enough to burn off any oil that got down into the exhaust and any left in the chamber. If oil on spark plugs after that then you got another issue.

If the smoke went away after driving a while then just ignor this post because it will waste your time...

If the engine did not burn oil before the head gasket replacement then you won't burn it after unless the head also had a valve job done and the guides or seals were not done correctly. If it is an external gasket leak...no biggie as you will quickly see that.
However...if you are suddenly now smoking out the exhaust pipe it can only be from oil (dark smoke) or water (white or very light smoke). If it persists...check the plugs....if you are taking water, and depending on how much, it will either overheat, foul the plugs or you will notice your radiator water slowly going away. Needless to say that would point to the head or Head gasket again.....
Unless....if the cause of you replacing the head to begin with, was severe overheating..then you could have easily overheated the block and have scored the piston rings/cylinder walls and are now blowing oil past that mating surface...then you would get smoke and oily spark plugs, not to mention that your clean oil would get dirty very fast. Since you have a fresh head, the bad rings would show up real qiuck in a simple compession or leak down test.
Hopefully all is good and you are enjoying your ride.

All is good I changed the oil after the 250 mark just to be safe. Oil looked barely dirty. No smoke, went away very quickly. Wow I just saved my broke butt a bunch of money. I have done rerpairs but nothing as major as this. Without you guys i would still be walkin. Thanks a bunch.
