Hi, I have a 98 TJ sahara all stock except 31" General AT2's and of course they rub at full lock. I may go ahead and space out the stops for now but would aftermarket arms give me more room? It looks like they would then I could get my for turning radius back. Thanks, John
No the reason your rubbing at full turn is the backspacing on the tires is not enough. Just need more backspacing on the rims. You can buy spacers btw to do this or buy different rims.
Thanks, I knew I could cure it several ways. I just thought I may kill two birds at once with adjustable front lowers that I may want to buy later anyway. I don't mind the stock wheels and money is tight right now. plus the wife wouldn't notice the control arms nearly as fast as a set of wheels if you know what I mean
oh i'm right with ya buddy, i use the garage, she's got no clue what goes on in there, i bring an axle home and if she sees it and asks i just say "oh that?...thats been here forever, i just moved it out of the corner"
I am always looking for a different way to do things. Are the ends available that they used on the adjustable control arms? Then I could make them like sprint cars with a peice of inside threaded tubing and jam nuts. I'm sure for a rock crawler they use heims at both ends but that would seem very harsh on the road for a DD. I realize I would need the proper quality tubing and componets. But it may bet a fun project and would help in alignment issues down the road when I lift it a little. Thanks John
Something I found out recently... Is that some people make 4 link parts that function wonderfully as control arms... Go to suicidedoors.com and check out the 4 link parts area. Adjustable links for $50 !! That is what I am going to use for all 8 links in time...
See That is the way I was thinking. There's always a way to kill a squirrel with a cannon and not bust your budget if you know what I mean. If the components will hold up in a 4 link (hot rod, race car they should be OK for a DD)
