Air filter???

What opinions do people have about the air filter to put in your jeeps? I had a K&N in my old truck... but never saw much of a difference that the standard air filter. Thoughts?

Having no 1st hand experience, I believe the gains, if any, would be negligible. On top of that, if you do much offroading, the stock filter box does a much better job of keeping mud and whatnot away from the filter.

Most here recommend just keeping the stock airbox for the reasons posted above. Save your $ for the carwash......

K&N is junk IMO.

Might be ok for the freeway...don't do well at all in a dusty environment!

For a Jeep, NO performance gain. Stay stock is my recommendation!

To everyone suggesting to stay stock....assume one has already gotten rid of the stock air intake box and now has a "high-flow" 3 1/2 air intake tube with a cone shaped air filter. Then what would be the suggestion regarding what to get as an aftermarket air filter? I'm in this prediciment and thought someone else may benefit from an answer to my question also. Is there anything that would be better at repelling dirt and dust more so than others?

^I had a KN filter. I posted a "wanted" in a few jeep sites for a stock box and bought one for 25 bucks. Plumbed it up, bought a new paper filter and off I go.

OR you can keep throwing money at what you have and buy pre filters, hang some panty hose on it etc.

I went and got the stock box because I refused to throw more money at a bad situation.

Aren't there some filters out there that can be cleaned and re-used? Thinking I'm gonna go back to the stock box and be done with it....I think the one I have now is actually decreasing my airflow due to the filter being dirty and me not being able to clean it correctly...IF it can even technically be cleaned

If you have a K&N type filter, then yes they can be cleaned. Autozone, etc. sell kits. Spray on the cleaner, hose it off, let it dry overnight, then re-oil it.
