Mine has been ON for a long time as well ... checked everything but didn't find anything loose. I am wondering if it is my clockspring. I am going to take it out one of these days and see if it is bad. Will update you here ...

Did you check your clockspring yet?

Mine has been on ever since I installed a new stearing column about a year or so ago. Banipal, you mentioned the clockspring. Is that something that could have been damaged during the install? I say this because I remember reading something recently that mentioned if the steering wheel is turned when the shaft isn't connected that it could break the clockspring.....or something like that. Can't remember exactly what I read but I'm pretty sure thats what it said. Does that sound right? Also, is it hard to check the clockspring and replace it if necessary or is it a delicate/fragile job?

Edit: Not trying to hijack dirk, figured some answers to my questions may be enlightening for you and/or anyone else with the similar problem. :-)

Here is a good video that show how you can break it if you don't install it correctly.

Also it is not a hard job at all. Just have to remove the steering wheel for it. Here is how to do it step by step.
