Alarm issues

So my 98 tj has an alarm. A very irritating alarm. The guy I got the thing from said every once in a while it would go off..just pop the key in and it shuts off. Happened to me twice and that fixed it. Well yesterday it goes off and won't shut off.

I have read quite a bit up on this, and its apparently not the same system that disables the ignition, as mine starts just fine. Alarm is quiet while driving, then goes back to beeping as soon as I stop.

I've tried disconnecting the battery, comes right back on.

There is no honking or lights flashing or anything like that, just a slight dinging sound.

Does anyone have any idea how to disable this thing? I did read one thread about a hidden button on the dash, but as far as I can tell, I've got nothing of that sort.

And I must say, owning an older jeep really is an adventure..you never know what issue you're going to wake up to...haha. I love it. I traded my 07 frontier for this thing(plus some cash) and its the best vehicle move I've ever made.

Any alarm is aftermarket so no one really knows what you have

Most valet switches on aftermarket alarm are under dash on driver side look above your feet

On some Tjs there is a factory OEM chime for door open keys still in ignition or lights left on after shut down but that is not a true alarm just a reminder to not forget keys or leave lights on

Ok, an update. I found a button, but it doesn't appear to be connected to anything.

And further details on the issue. When I leave the driver's door open, the alarm shuts off. As soon as I close the driver's door, the alarm goes off. I'm thinking maybe this could be related to the key chime or whatever, but that still doesn't explain the issue.

Another update: if I put a fuse back in for the door switches, it never stops beeping, whether doors are open or closed

Can you guys listen to this and tell me if this is a door chime? I don't have another tj around for reference, and if it is a door chime, it's working exactly opposite of the way is supposed to

Well, I'm not sure what I did, but I seemed to have stopped the beeping. It still beeps non-stop if I put in the #4 fuse though.

This stuff can be a bit frustrating.

Update again...thought I had fixed it by simply disconnecting the driver's side door switch...I didn't. About an hour later it started up again. So I ran a jumper wire on the connector and it seems to be doing the trick.

Of course, now any hopes of using the dome lights are out the door until I can truly diagnose this God forsaken thing.
