Alarm System?

I've been looking at alarm systems but I'm not sure what is right for my Jeep. I have a soft top and full metal doors. I would love to get a viper, but damn they are expensive, plus it seems like I'm buying extra features that I can't (or won't) use. I like the "Digital Tilt Motion Sensor" and the "
Field Disturbance Sensor." Is there another alarm system that provides these features for less money? What alarm system is best for a Jeep?

I am probably just going to get a kill switch so it makes it harder to steal. I have an alarm on my truck but that didnt stop the stereo thieves from stealing it at 4P in a Best Buy parking lot. Jeeps are easy targets, so I dont bother locking mine up anymore.

I have a soft top with full doors but I usually have it topless and doorless when the weather is nice.
I have a Viper system with a proximity sensor. The sensor detects if anything gets too close or enters the jeep. With the doors off, it will beep several times if anyone gets to close to it, if they reach into the jeep it goes off.

Other than that, just be smart about things. Don't leave anything laying in the jeep, don't have any nice stereo components visible, don't crank up your sound in your neighborhood, use a detachable faceplate radio if you have an aftermarket system or locate it in the center console. Don't bother to lock your doors, they will cut the soft top if you do and a kill switch is not a bad idea.

Oh, and don't park it in shady looking neighborhoods and always park as close as you can to the front of the store. It's safer if it's right there in front of the store where everyone can see it.

I literally don't keep anything in my jeep except a recovery strap under the seat. My radio has a detachable faceplate and I almost always lock it in my glove box. I'm not really worried about stuff getting stolen from inside. More about the wheels/tires, and the entire vehicle itself.

A kill switch isn't a bad idea, but it's still not fool proof. There is ways around this, such as locating the switch, or not starting the engine. This doesn't give any protection to someone jacking up your vehicle to steel the wheels, or towing it away.

The viper may be what I end up getting even though it's so expensive. It seems to be pretty tried and true, and everyone who has one recommends it.

Just wondering, how much does it cost to have a system like the viper installed?
