all gauges are dead???

So i had to rewire my sound bar and after i was done i turned the radio on. Nothing... hmm guess i will deal with that later.
Get in the jeep to drive home and start driving and notice that my dash lights are on but all the gauges are dead.
Checked the fuses by the glove box... all good...

Any ideas? Even my odometer is black.

It is a known issue with the Jeeps and some Dodge trucks that the connectors behind the dash cluster to need cleaned and de-electrical grease applied.Tap the dash cluster and see if they come back in check!!!!

i beat the holy well you know... out of my dash but nothing. any other fuses other than the ones behind the glove box?
Any way to reach the dash plug without taking the cluster off? OH and the dome light doesnt work. Not sure if thats on the same plug as the gauges and radio or not.

It takes a whole 15 minutes to pull the cluster and clean, grease and slap back in.It never hurts to go ahead and have that done wither it fixes your problem or not your out 15 mins of time not like pulling a transmission to find everything looks new and that the pin has fell out of the clutch pedal.LOL No it was not me I was the one that found the pin after a friend had pulled the whole tranny. He was sick to his stomach.LOL Anyway You could check the fuses in the PDC under the hood. The connectors for the cluster do not supply the radio or dome light so you must have a fuse blown somewere.

Kelly,

I responded to your PM, and left you instructions on how to remove the Gauge Cluster.

Hope that helps.

What do you mean by cleaning and greasing the Cluster, and why?

When I put all the Blue LEDs in, I lost my left turn signal (green arrow) light. I've tried new bulbs, fuses, nothing brought it back. I'm just wondering if this cleaning and greasing would work. What do you think?

Black the cleaning and greasing is DIE-Electric grease. It makes a water tight seal. Not water proof but helps a ton if they get wet. That may work for you

More than likely the contact point of that particular bulb was damaged and not one single pin connector in that plug.As far as what I mean by cleaning and greasing the connectors you can remove the cluster and use a good electrical cleaner ON A CUE TIP to clean the filament strips and then us de-electrical grease to smear in the plugs and on the tape strips.Just don't pull the strips out of there sockets.

BTW Kelly if you beat on the dash and they still didn't come on then you may want to check the fuses as stated by mljorg in the PDC(power distribution center) under the hood.

yeah i tore the dash all up looking for a problem. Then thought ... isnt there a fuse box under the hood?.. thought it was for big stuff only.
BINGO!!! 10amp blown. replaced it and we are back in buiss.
I think i may have popped it with the dome light wire in the sound bar.

That is why I was telling you that the dome light and radio DO NOT get power from the same source as the cluster Glad you got it fixed.Did you at least clean and grease the connectors while you had it apart????

I just caught something!!! So your guages were dead also form this fuse blown for the radio and dome light??? If so that is odd.I didn't know that fuse would kill the guages also.

Yeah i checked the cluster connections and they seemed freshly greased. It was prolly the only clean part under there...lol

I wasnt sure why the gauges wouldnt work along with the dome light and radio. But when i put the new fuse in everything came on.

The gauges didnt move and sat as if the jeep was off when the fuse was popped. I could turn the radio on and hear a pop from power but no sound...

Its odd that its all on one fuse.

Hi guys
Just had this problem, also happened after fitting a sound bar. Turned out to be the fuse under the hood. IIt is one of the mini blade ones I think it was number 17.

So simple, yet I first removed all my wiring and checked through the connections first.

I have a 97 wrangler sport (auto) After the rainy month of June I lost my gauges as well. I do get the start up lights ( battery air etc) but then goes black No fuel, odometer nothing. I checked behind the dash and under the hood...all seems ok. I do not have the owners manual so I cannot really tell which fuse is for what but they all look ok.
I removed my dash and cluster panel and sprayed all the pins. I didnt fuss with them too much just sprayed them, and still have nothing. I tried the old smack, but the needles just bounced and that was it...still dead. Is it possble the cluster shorted out? or maybe its a relay? is this even possible? or did I just overlook the fuses somehow?
Please help as my dash is in the garage lol
