All of a sudden key won't work door.

I left work tonight, put my key in the drivers door and it won't budge! Plus it was raining real bad.... It worked this morning without a problem. I had to go and unlock the passenger door, lean over to unlock the drivers door to get in. When I arrived home just now, I tried it again. Still will not work. But the passenger side works fine with the key. Any ideas? Is it an easy fix? Thanks in advance. Dave.

My passenger door was like that when I bought mine. Just popped the door panel off and reattached the arm. I also added a zip tie so it would stay a little better. Easy fix, maybe 20 minutes.

I get up this morning, ready to take the door apart, I try the key and it WORKS! What the he11 is goin on? I tried it last night several times to no avail. Now this morning first try and it works. All day long too! I thought maybe it had somthing to do with the key being upside down maybe? But it works fine just as it should....... Anyone else have a problem like this?

Weird!

Something even more interesting and unexplainable, the key to the '95 YJ I used to have, unlocked and cranked my wife's (then g/f) '98 TJ. How crazy is that.

Anyway, maybe give it some lube (wd-40). The lock on the front door of my house did this recently, worked one minute, got home and wouldn't work anymore. Lubed the key hole and the key a little and no more problem. May just have some dirt or sand in there?

First off....
Your Boat Keys won't unlock your Jeep Dave!
...come on, get it together man!

Second...
your passenger door was most likely left unlocked in the first place,
due to your bad hangover from that crazy party you had Saturday night,
making you think you have some mysterious problem with your keys or locks.

Or... maybe you just weren't holding your mouth right.

The tumblers in these locks are a series of flat brass bars with a slot in the middle, they are pushed into position by a tiny spring. Many times it's just dirt or pocket lint that keeps them from working correctly. Get a decent lube, (I personally don't recommend WD-40,) spray it in the lock, move your key in and out several times, then repeat. You are looking to wash away any debris that may accumulate.

I wish I could say I had a wild night on saturday, But the truth is All I saw was A55 and ba11's. I work the weekends, so I get all you fools that forget how to get home and get lost and find the JAIL... LOL.. As for the keys, yeah I might be going a little BATSA./matto! I just finished replacing the lights from the new trailer to the top of the guide poles, so they never get submerged in the water anymore. I am now in the process of changing the oil. VERY SLOW process, takes about an hour for it to drain fully. I know, I'll get pics of the new trailer soon. Been busy working to pay for the trailer. LOL.

Sounds about right!

Careful with your next post Dave.
You're coming up on a pretty unlucky number.
LOL!

It's kinda hard to find but I've been using a product called Lock-Ease for years and years and I've never had a single problem once I applied it. Good for any lock: car, home, padlock etc.
