All SYE pretty much the same ??

Okay I know I am going to need a SYE for my lift. I have seen different brands, lengths, etc. Some cheaper than others. Are they all pretty much the same quality and durability wise, or is this a case where more money is well spent? I have read that Tom Woods stuff is pretty well thought of. Any others I should look at?

To me, most are pretty much the same thing. Personally, I would not (and did not) go with a super-short SYE. Unless you actually need a super-short SYE due to an EXTREMELY high lift height, go with a standard SYE kit. The reason being that a super-short SYE eliminates the speedometer gear so you lose the ability to quickly/easily change it to recalibrate the speedometer after changing a tire size or axle ratio. Without it, you have to buy an electronic speedometer calibrator. And for typical suspension lift heights (mine is 5"), there's no real benefit to a super-short SYE. At least not to me.

No I am going with a 4" suspension lift. So nothing extreme. Money is alwasy an issue, if I can do the same thing for cheaper, I am in But am willing to spend more for a quality product

Go for Tom Wood's SYE/CV combination, you can't go wrong with it and its price is very competitive. Plus Tom's aftermarket support is unsurpassed. After some serious trail carnage that started with a busted control arm bolt and torn control arm mount, Tom had me a replacement shaft and yokes under warranty within a few days. www.4xshaft.com/

I am definitely going with Tom Woods, he got right back to me via email and explained what my options were and actually recommended one of the less expensive or as he put it "most bang for the buck" Most places will try to sell you the top shelf even though you don't need it. He was upfront and honest. That will get my business every time.

I got mine from PORC and has worked fine..I can't remember the brand cause I got as a kit with a beefy drive shaft. Service and price was great.
