Happened to notice that the 4wd light on my dash isn't coming on in the past few weeks, did the test where all the dash lights light up and it was fine so it's gotta be the sensor on the transfer case. My question is, where the heck do I find a replacement one? All the ones I seem to be finding are for the 97-02 TJ's.
Mine is an 06.

Rock Auto carries them for a 06

I'm interested if there's a more appropriate part # as well.

Looks like Rock Auto shows the same part as Quadratec.

I have an '03 and I will order the '97-02 part as well.

I have the NV231 Transfer case, is that the one you have as well?

My 2000 lights up PART TIME in yellow when in 4wd. There is a blank unused spot that says full time that was for Cherokees.

You can see them when off just looking. The gauge test does not illuminate them. You can pull the switch connecter off the t case jump it with a paperclip. If it lights up then switch is bad. If not bulb. Or worse case wire broke somewhere. Highly unlikely.

Okay so I got the replacement switch in today but can't figure out where it is on the transfer case. I saw a write up on here and on Jeep Forum about how to do it I'm still lost.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

It is right by the linkage threaded end pointed straight down with a connecter hooked on top. Basically right between the front drive shaft and the t case linkage.

This is mine. The bracket you see to the left of it is where the t case linkage bolts to the t case. I'm looking from the front drivers side towards the rear.

My 03 4wd light doesn't work also. I know that the 4wd does work but not the light.

Is this a hard replacement? I've got next to no mechanical skills. I always worry that I could screw something else up when I start tinkering.

Replacing the switch is pretty easy , if ya got long arms it can be done without removing the skid plate. Be sure to get a new o ring with the switch
