another problem wont start

Alright guys... I have another problem Iím wondering if you guys can help me out with. When I got in my jeep today to go to work it wouldnít start. What I mean is, when I turned the key nothing happened.. The radio came on and so did the little beeping noise that happens when I turn my jeep on.. But thatís it. My battery is good. Iím going to assume itís my starter, but before I go and change it I just wanted to see if any of you guys have any suggestions about what it could be. Also before you ask when turning my key I did NOT hear a little ticking noise.
anyways thanks a lot guys

First check the Neg. Solenoid on the starter. I had an issue with mine this past winter where the connection was loose or corrodid. Pull the Neg plug off and try wiping down or see if it loose.

Also you can try jumping the solenoid if you have a piece of wire and another person to help you. Strip the ends of the wire and contact the positive & negative leads on the starter without touching anything else. Then have the other person try starting.

Chris

Alright thanks dude... I checked and one of the connections (not sure if it’s the negative or positive one) is very very corroded... pretty much to the point I cant even loosen it..I’m not too sure how I’m gonna get it off now:S. but i guess its probably safe to assume is more then likely my problem. I’m gonna try and jump the solenoid after and see what happens.
thanks again

I believe that the Neutral Safety Switch plug goes into the Drivers side of the tranny. But before you go that route, check the connections like stated and jumping it first.

Otherwise check the fuse block behind the glove box. I believe there is a spot to put a 20amp fuse I think in the #20 slot.

The other thing you can try is under the hood on pass side is the Power Distribution block. There is a starter relay in there, you can try switching with the Fog Light or Horn relay, check the number listed on relay there should all be the same.

I hope one of you guys reads this again and can help me out here. I jumped the solenoid (I have done this before with other cars) anyways when I did this.... it just made a whining sound. And sounded like the little wheel was spinning very quickly inside.... basically it sounded like it was not engaging the flywheel. I’m not sure what is going out.. I was unable to take the starter off tonight because for some reason I need a reverse torque to take it off so I have to wait until my local parts store opens and I can go buy one. Anyways I’m wondering if you guys have any idea what is going on here and what I can expect when I do finely get the starter off... (Please don’t tell me it’s my fly wheel)

Sounds like the spur gear in the Starter is not engaging, which usually mean time to clean since it's either corrodide or packed with dirt or mud, which thus means time to replace. I had mine go out after wheeling in some mud and then 2 days later cold as crap.... lol

When you take the starter off, check and see if the Spur gear spins & slides too freely, of if stuck inplace & not engaging.
