Another Rubicon rear locker question

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the rear locker used in TJ Rubicons? I did get some info from Dan/Spicer on some minor parts but they couldn't/wouldn't give me the manufacturer info. They source the lockers and do the assembly.

They are "somewhat" serviceable. My rear locker's air bladder started leaking air & I was able to find a used bladder to replace it. I don't know about obtaining any of the rest of the parts however, I am not hopeful mine could be repaired if it ever just completely grenaded. They're not shown in the Jeep/Mopar parts break-down.

Your best bet is to keep your eye open for a replacement. A front or rear will do but the front locker is stronger due to no LSD and recommended as a replacement for the rear if it ever breaks.

OK. I have begun my excellent task. Jerry can buy me a cookie when I'm done. :)

They don't seem to have a North American contact. So I emailed the German office via their customer service portal, as well as their presumably English speaking office in the UK. We shall see what happens.

My letter:
I am researching the availability of replacement parts for the pneumatic locking differentials equipped on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model years 2003-2006. Your company supplied these differentials under its previous name Tochigi Fuji Sangyo. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Awesome, that'd be great if they responded back with any information. Neither one of us has any business holding our breath thinking they'll actually respond though.

Thanks for taking it on, that'd be really cool if somehow you actually got information on finding parts for our lockers... you'd become an instant Rubicon Hero! :thumb:

I'll do some research also and see if I can add any info. Thanks for the input so far.

If you find a front locker make sure the bearing cap on the passenger (non ring gear) side has the clearance for the little hose that comes off of the actuator. I have a locker sitting in my basement that I was going to use in my dana 44 but am waiting to find some used spider gears to slap in it before I mess with the cap.

I emailed GKN and they were less then helpful. They said to check with the local dealer and basically buy a whole differential. They should of just said you're on your own now p*** off because they never responded after that.

I've already hit my dead end. The UK rep replied saying he knows nothing about this. I wrote back asking if he could refer me to another department. I also mentioned that there is a customer base that is interested in buying repair parts if they were available. I have not heard back.

No success yet either. Can't believe that with a component that widespread and popular one can't find any tech or parts material.

an 03-06 has the air actuated TruLok differential the part numbers shouldn't be too hard to find all I can remember is they start with a 5 and end with an AA

Here's the rear diff according to Quadratec and verified with a simple Google search.

MOPAR® Tru-Lok Differential Case with 4.11 Gear Ratio

For 03-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ Rubicon & Unlimited Rubicon

Quadratec Part No: 52430.1102
Manufacturer Part No: 52104572AA

However, this is a Mopar number, not a GKN number or the earlier Tochigi Fuji Sangyo number. TruLok appears to be Jeep's name for these diffs. Is there a marking on the physical unit from the manufacture that might identify it? See the difference? That isn't so easy to find and I'm not in a position to open my diff covers in the near future. The guy I'm taking to isn't using Mopar numbers.

My most recent message to GKN:
----
I'm in the US, so calling is a little difficult. I can use Skype if that is helpful.

Here is some information that may be useful. This is what the rear differential was listed as by Jeep. It is a locking differential with a helical limited slip when open. Fairly unique from what I understand.

MOPAR® Tru-Lok Differential Case with 4.11 Gear Ratio

For 03-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ Rubicon & Unlimited Rubicon

Manufacturer Part No: 52104572AA

The issue is that once Jeep stopped using these differentials in 2006, new replacement parts quickly became unavailable. However, we believe these differentials must have been used on other vehicles outside the US and were known by your model names and part numbers. That is what I am hoping to identify.

Nicely put jjvw... BTW, so they were only used 4 years? What do JK's use?

JK is electric rather than low pressure air actuated for the rubicon lockers Glad I have ARB rather than factory rubicon
Having factory Rubi lockers on the TJ's is cool but knowing the fact that once they go out it might mean replacing it with an aftermarket kind of sucks :/
At that point the only thing that makes it a rubicon would be the transfer case
