Maybe a small leak in the heater core?

As indicated, heater core. A good indicator that the core is leaking is your windows fogging up (badly)

Check the heatercore as suggested, but also take a flashlight and look around your engine comparment for any signs of antifreeze leaks.

Last week I could smell it and I could see that it was seeping out the gasket of the waterpump.

Just about guarantee it's a small leak in heater core as stated. No need to even "check"

As also mentioned, your windows will fog up bad!!
