Blower motor resistor, it works in conjunction with your heater fan speed. It's located below the glove box by the passenger foot area. Good thing to keep on hand, as they have a reputation for failure. If you lose all but high speed on your blower, that's the sign it's time to replace the resistor.
NICE! Just happened to look in this thread out of curiosity, and I am glad I did! I need one of those parts! Heater/AC only works on high. So, instead of tearing into the controls, I will start with one of these.
Start with replacing resistor, yes. Stick a vacuum hose in the air box where the resistor is, you might get some residual plant matter and other loose crap out.
If you continue to have a problem with the resistor, you'll want to consider adding relays to each fan speed. Not expensive, but will totally prevent your resistor from burning out again.
So, is there a way to determine whether it's the actual switch versus resistor? I quickly looked them up on Quadratec, and the resistor is $90, and the switch was significantly less. If there's a way to determine before buying a part I don't need...I'd rather buy the one I need...especially if it's less expensive.
This is unreal. So much information so fast. As said already earlier - You guys rock!
