Any JEEP techs have any advice?

So my 2001 wrangler se auto is becoming a problem child. Any advice helps me a lot before I start throwing parts at it. Heres a run by.
Have code p0505 idle air control system.. I replaced idle air control valve and code is still on. Jeep broke down, replaced fuel pump, filters ect and a faulty coilpack. Jeep is a pain in the ass to start in the morning. Got 2 codes for small and large evap leak...found disconnected vacume line, smoked system and found broken hose, evap codes gone. ...Will not hold fuel pressure. I have to cycle ignition a few times to get it up then it drops off.....Is this a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator installed?

The leak back valve is done for in the tank. The only way to fix it is to put a new pump in.

There isn't much that can go wrong with a fuel pump. Other than installer error. I'd look at the regulator on the rail.

When you say you replaced the filter you mean fuel filter? The fuel filter is also the regulator.

The primaray filter is just a screen found in the tank the fuel pressure regulator contains the second filter.
Anti drain back valve would be the fuel pressure regulator?

How do you know its losing fuel pressure?

Check the wire harness going to the fuel pump. There is a known issue with the tank side wires coming out and not making good or no contact at all. (check both side of course to make sure) Harnes is located top driver side of tank towards back.

The pump seems to work. Once I get it started it drives all day fine. We hooked a fuel pressure gauge up at the fuel rail. When I cycle the key I can hear the pump and the guage indicates pressure. Soon as I turn the key off pressure drops to zero instantly.

If you are going to be a smart mouth please do not post. People ask questions for a reason & don't need cocky answers. Take this as a warning any more of this behavior & I'll close it.

Anyhow, back to the subject....sounds like either the check valve in the pump took a crap, or you've got a leaky injector. If its the check valve you can either replace the pump (again) or cycle the key a few times before you crank it. If you're dealing with a leaky injector you'd probably already know 'cause of the crappy fuel economy and a big puff of black smoke when it finally cranks.
I'd try cleaning the throttle body to help with the 0505 code. Make sure you clean the ridge of carbon that builds up behind the butterfly as well as the IAC passage.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to put a new pump in this week. This has to be it. Injectors don't leak and no evap leaks either. I noticed the throttle body was pretty dirty when I replaced the iac valve, I'll try cleaning it. Thanks again.

My turd did the same thing for about two months... had to cycle the key a couple of times to get it started, fuel pressure was leaking down quickly, etc. About the time I got the extra money set aside for a fuel pump, it mysteriously healed itself. I figure it must have had a piece of trash stuck in the regulator or anti-drainback valve.

Remove the regulator from the top of the fuel pump module and try blowing backwards through it. It should hold. If not, replace it. I dont think the pump actualy holds pressure on that one.
