Anybody know what this?

The white thing with the two rusty bolts.
I pulled it out and the end of it looked like a flat head screwdriver.
I put everything back together. Started her up and cel started blinking. Messed with this thing again. Same results with the cel.

Someone should be along shortly to identify/help rectify but ...

if you don't know what it is or what it does LEAVE IT BE UNTIL YOU DO.

* looks like the camshaft synchronizer and position sensor

I'm kinda curious as to why you would just blindly take something off like that? It's kind of funny.

Yep camshaft sensor. And from what I've read on it is that it's not something you can set at home. Has to be a stealer.

You can reset them yourself, it's essentially the same thing as the distributor on the older 4l's except with distributorless ignition all it does is use the worm gear on the camshaft to drive the oil pump and provide camshaft position information
