anyone have experience with the 4wd...

cat back exhaust? I need a new project to look forward to and was thinking about this one, it seems like the banks exhaust is the way to go... but for the price, like at 4wd this weekend, you can grab the their 4wd cat back exhaust for $124... what are the sacrifices i'd be making for this one? I'd suscpect some loss in potential HP and torque... but to that big of an issue to me. does anyone know much about this product?

how about dyno?

well i've been still looking and reading around and have decided that I feel like i can definitely get a set up that would would still satisfy my wants but at a lower price....it looks like thrush/dynomax are owned by walker and tenneco, so i'm sure the mufflers come from the same manufacturer but printed with different labels. my tailpipe is pretty bad too so i'm looking to do the whole cat back instead of just a muffler. i was looking at this sysytem Dynomax Performance 19391 - Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust Systems – SummitRacing.com i want 2.5" diameter in the tailpipe for a deeper sound and even with a 2.5 i think it would still sound good (so i've read). Plus I found that dynomax has a $75cash rebate so i'm only looking at half the price for everything... But, according to summit, this system can only work for 4L, anyone know the difference b/w the 4 and 2.5 exhaust? I thought they were both 2 1/4" stock?

You're not going to get a noticeable increase in power with a cat back system. Period. Plus they are WAY overpriced. All they give you is a replacement pipe (no power there) and an overpriced muffler which really won't give you more power either. Their ads are just a lot of hype. If you want a louder exhaust, go to your local independent muffler shop and have them replace your muffler with something else. I had to have my rear exhaust system rerouted and a new muffler installed after installing a long-arm supension and the total cost was only $85.

Jerry, i was waiting for your comment, I should have just messaged you instead. I'm thinking about just doing a thrush turbo or welded.. im just curious if the 2 1/4 increase to 2 1/2 diameter would make a significant difference. i appreciate your thoughts, bc i'm on ur side, i was looking at this system only bc in the end it would have only cost me $80 after the rebate, same as having a local shop do it if not chaeper. the shops up here are really poorly priced IMO

i have the banks and only got it because it was on sale for a damn good price when i was looking into an exhaust. it helped a little with gas millage and gave a few more HP and some better throttle response. it sounds great and its all stainless so i don't have to worry about replacing a rusted exhaust again.

Not in my personal opinion. Making the exhaust or intake bigger without doing both at the same time doesn't help except perhaps from the placebo effect.

i called a jeep dealership and the MOPAR replacement part #'s for the 4L and 2.5 muffler and tailpipe are the same, even though the OME part #'s are different. So then it doesnt matter what some of these systems say about fitting as long as you get it for the correct year.

unless some of these manufacturers like to be a pain in the a*%
